Downloader Software ("SSvid", "we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, what we do not collect, and how we handle information when you use the SSvid desktop application ("Application") and our website at ssvid.app ("Website").

1. Our Privacy Principles

SSvid is built on a privacy-first philosophy:

  • Minimal collection: We collect only what is strictly necessary for the Application to function.
  • Local-first: All downloads, media files, and browsing activity stay on your machine. We have no cloud storage for your content.
  • No tracking: We do not track your usage patterns, build advertising profiles, or sell data to third parties.

2. What We Collect

2.1 Device Information for Licensing

When you activate a license key, we collect minimal device identifiers (operating system type, machine ID hash) to verify your license. This data is used solely for license validation and is not linked to your identity.

2.2 Crash Reports (Sentry)

If the Application encounters an error, a crash report may be sent to Sentry, our error-monitoring service. Crash reports include:

  • Application version and operating system
  • Error stack trace and diagnostic data
  • Device type and architecture (e.g., macOS ARM64)

Crash reports do not include URLs you downloaded, file names, video content, or any personal files. You can opt out of crash reporting at any time in Settings within the Application.

2.3 Payment Information

When you purchase a subscription, payment is processed entirely by Stripe. We receive only your email address, subscription status, and a transaction reference ID. We never see or store your full credit card number, CVV, or billing address.

2.4 Support Requests

If you contact us for support, we collect the information you voluntarily provide (e.g., email address, description of the issue).

2.5 Update Checks

The Application periodically contacts our server to check for updates. This request includes only your Application version and operating system. No personal data is transmitted.

3. What We Do NOT Collect

We want to be explicit about what SSvid never touches:

  • We do not collect, transmit, or store the URLs you download from.
  • We do not collect your download history, file names, or media content.
  • We do not access your browsing history, bookmarks, or personal files.
  • We do not track your usage patterns within the Application.
  • We do not access or transmit your platform login cookies. Browser cookies used for authenticated downloads are stored locally in your operating system's secure storage (macOS Keychain, Windows Credential Manager, or Linux libsecret).
  • We do not upload your downloaded videos or any media to our servers or any cloud service.

4. Local Data Storage

All Application data resides on your device. Nothing is synced to the cloud:

  • Download database: SQLite database in your application data directory.
  • License key: Stored locally and verified against our backend on activation. The backend stores only a hashed device identifier and license status.
  • Application settings: Local preferences storage on your machine.
  • Downloaded files: Saved to the directory you choose. We have zero access to these files.
  • Browser cookies (if used): Encrypted in your OS keychain. Never transmitted to our servers.

We use the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

6. Cookies

6.1 Website (ssvid.app)

Our landing page uses no first-party tracking cookies and no analytics cookies. The only cookies that may be set are:

  • Cloudflare: Essential security cookies for DDoS protection and CDN delivery. These are strictly necessary and cannot be opted out of.
  • Theme preference: A localStorage entry (not a cookie) to remember your light/dark mode choice.

We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any advertising trackers on our website.

6.2 Application

The desktop Application does not use cookies. Local preferences are stored via platform-native mechanisms, not browser cookies.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

  • Local data: Retained on your device until you uninstall the Application or manually delete it. We cannot remotely access or delete your local data.
  • License data: Retained on our server for the duration of your license. Deleted within 30 days of a deletion request.
  • Payment records: Retained for up to 12 months after subscription cancellation for accounting and legal compliance.
  • Crash reports: Automatically purged from Sentry after 90 days.
  • Support correspondence: Retained for up to 24 months. You may request earlier deletion.

8. GDPR and Your Rights

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or other regions with data protection laws, you have the following rights under GDPR or equivalent legislation:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate personal data.
  • Erasure: Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten"), subject to legal retention requirements.
  • Portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Restriction: Request restriction of processing of your personal data.
  • Objection: Object to processing based on legitimate interest.
  • Withdraw consent: Withdraw consent for data processing at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.

We process your data based on:

  • Contract performance: License activation and subscription services.
  • Legitimate interest: Application updates and security patches.
  • Consent: Crash reporting (opt-in by default, opt-out available).

9. Children's Privacy

SSvid is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the Application or by posting a notice on our Website. Your continued use of SSvid after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
